Sunderland have agreed a deal in principle to sign Liverpool striker Fabio Borini, according to Sky Sports News.
Borini, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Stadium of Light in the 2013-14 season, will undergo his medical before finalising a deal worth an initial £8m.
The former Chelsea striker has failed to make any impact at Liverpool since joining from Roma in 2012, making just eight Premier League starts.
The 24-year-old scored seven goals in 32 league appearances during a loan spell at Sunderland two years ago and the Black Cats tried to make the move permanent last summer but refused to succumb to the Italian’s lofty wage demands.
