Atletico Madrid forward set for €30m move to China

Atletico Madrid forward Yannick Carrasco is on the brink of completing a stunning €30m (£26.6m) move to the Chinese Super League, according to Marca.

Carrasco has fallen down the pecking order at Atletico this season and has now been given a route out of Madrid by Chinese side Dalian Yifang.

The Belgium international was due to start in Thursday’s Europa League match against FC Copenhagen but has since been pulled from the squad as a move to the Far East edges closer.

Carrasco only signed a new five-year deal in October 2016 but has struggled to maintain the form that earned him improved terms since then.

The 24-year-old’s agent is currently negotiating personal terms with Yifang, who were promoted to the Chinese Super League in October.

Ma Lin’s side want to make a marquee signing ahead of the new season and believe Carrasco will help them establish a place in the Chinese Super League.

Carrasco has only started eight league matches this season, making a further nine appearances as a substitute.

In that time, the Belgian has still managed a direct hand in seven goals (three goals, four assists). However, he hasn’t netted against a top-flight side since September, a run of 18 matches.
