Norwich look set to beat their Premier League rivals after agreeing an £8m deal with Everton for Steven Naismith, according to The Guardian.
Naismith, 29, has been heavily tipped with a move away from Goodison Park after dropping down the pecking order since the start of the season.
Aston Villa had been mooted with a move for the Scotland international, but now appear to have missed out on a possible transfer target after Norwich jumped to the front of the queue for his signature.
Norwich tried to sign the Scot over the summer but have rekindled their interest in a bid to stave off the threat of relegation, with Alex Neil’s men three points above the bottom three thanks to their 2-0 win over Villa last time out.
Naismith looked set to endure another fantastic season at Everton when he came off the bench to score a hat-trick against Chelsea, but has found first-team opportunities hard to come by since.
In fact, the former Rangers striker has only started four league matches since Everton beat Chelsea 3-1 at the beginning of September and hasn’t scored or registered an assist since.
