Everton have announced they have sacked manager Roberto Martinez just two years into his five-year deal.
Martinez, 42, has been subject to fierce criticism in recent months following Everton’s disastrous campaign.
The Toffees have only won 10 matches all season and are only 10 points above the bottom three in 12th with one game remaining.
Everton have likely moved to replace Martinez before the end of the season to save the Spaniard from expected protests at Goodison Park when the Merseysiders host relegated Norwich on the last day of the season on Sunday.
Since the start of 2016, only Crystal Palace (7) have earned fewer points at home than Everton in the Premier League (8).
