Paris Saint-Germain president denies Cavani and Neymar rift

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has denied there is a rift between Edinson Cavani and Neymar.

Dani Alves had to intervene during the second half of PSG’s 2-0 win over Lyon at the weekend after both Cavani and Neymar wanted to take the same free-kick.

The Brazilian sided with Neymar on that occasion before Cavani insisted on taking a penalty later in the match only to see his effort saved by Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes.

Reports emerged in the aftermath of that match suggesting Neymar and Cavani had to be calmed down in the dressing room, while Spanish media are even suggesting the world’s most expensive player has asked PSG to sell Cavani.

Neymar and Cavani will reportedly talk out their differences with sporting director Antero Henrique and head coach Unai Emery on Wednesday, but Al-Khelaifi has refuted claims there is a rift between two of the club’s best players.

“No, there’s nothing. It’s you, the media, who are making problems,” he told RMC.
