Injured Manchester United star declared fit for FA Cup

Jose Mourinho has revealed Romelu Lukaku is available to play in Friday’s FA Cup match with Derby.

Lukaku missed Monday’s 2-0 win away to former club Everton after being stretchered off with oxygen last weekend.

The Belgium international appeared to be knocked unconscious following a clash of heads with Southampton defender Wesley Hoedt and was not risked at Goodison Park.

Lukaku was also expected to miss out against Championship side Derby but Mourinho has declared the United No.9 fit to play.

“Romelu is back, Romelu is back,” Mourinho told United’s official website. “As I said it was not a concussion, it was a precaution, a protection for him. He wanted to play against Everton, but this time he is back.”

Lukaku has only scored four goals in his last 20 matches in all competitions and Mourinho has previously admitted that the 24-year-old needs a rest.

However, the United striker looks set to return to action against Derby on Friday where he will hope to add to the 14 goals he has already scored for the Red Devils this season.
