The agent of Lorenzo Insigne has revealed there are several clubs interested in the Napoli ace but has downplayed reports of a summer switch to Chelsea.
Reports emerged over the weekend suggesting Chelsea were eyeing a £45m swoop for the Italy international in the wake of Eden Hazard’s ankle injury that will rule him out of the start of next season.
Insigne only signed a new Napoli deal in April after enjoying a sublime campaign for Maurizio Sarri’s side last season and his agent, Franco della Monica, insists the reported fee would not even be enough to acquire the 26-year-old, who is not looking to leave the Serie A side.
“I would start by saying the offer reported in The Sun would be low and he has always been in the sights of many clubs,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss, via London Evening Standard.
“The priority for Lorenzo, though, is to be wearing the Napoli shirt and to be rewarded in an important way by his team. Now he has both and he is happy as well.”
Insigne was an integral part of Napoli’s formidable front line last season that racked up more goals than any other Serie A side (94).
The Italian winger scored 18 goals in Serie A last season, more goals than he managed in his previous three campaigns combined (17). He was also on hand to provide nine assists for Sarri’s side.
