Monaco are hopeful of re-signing Tiemoue Bakayoko from Chelsea just 12 months after letting him leave, claims The National.
Chelsea signed Bakayoko from Monaco in a deal worth £40m last summer but the France international has endured a nightmare spell at Stamford Bridge.
The 23-year-old has failed to adapt to the demands of the Premier League and now his future at Chelsea is already in doubt.
This summer will be one of the most important in Chelsea’s recent history as they look all but set to miss out on the top four this season.
Danny Drinkwater and Alvaro Morata are already being linked with summer moves away after just one season at the club and now Bakayoko is being touted with a possible exit.
Bakayoko was immense for Monaco last season and helped the French side dethrone Paris Saint-Germain to win their first league title since 2000.
The Frenchman underwent knee surgery prior to his move to Chelsea and he has struggled to rediscover his best form since then.
Bakayoko has only started 20 Premier League matches this season and has only started one of Chelsea’s last 10 matches in any competition since being sent off against Watford in February.
Chelsea have a marginally better win record in the Premier League when Bakayoko has started (55%) compared the 12 matches he has not started (50%).
