Cordoba defender José Ángel Crespo will undergo a medical at Aston Villa after the clubs reached an agreement for the 28-year-old, the Spanish club have confirmed.
Cordoba, who were relegated from La Liga last season, announced the agreement on their official Twitter account: “Cordoba and Aston Villa have reached an agreement for the transfer of Jose Angel Crespo to the English team.
“The defender, after an agreement in principle between the clubs, travels to England today to undergo a medical before signing.”
Crespo is a former Spain U’21 international and was part of a Sevilla side that won the UEFA Cup in 2006.
The Spaniard has the ability to play right the way across the defence and of Cordoba players to have made more than 19 appearances last season, only one teammate earned a lower WhoScored rating than Crespo (6.82).
