City face competition for De Bruyne

Wolfsburg manager Dieter Hecking has revealed that Manchester City face competition from Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona to sign midfielder Kevin de Bruyne this summer.

City have been heavily linked with a move for the former Chelsea midfielder and have reportedly already lodged two bids for the 24-year-old this month.

However, it now appears they are not the only team interested in De Bruyne after Hecking revealed three of the biggest clubs in Europe were also monitoring the Belgium international’s progress.

“Despite my esteem for Manchester City, I have to say that Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Barcelona have all expressed an interest in Kevin de Bruyne and there have been approaches for him,” the Wolfsburg head coach told Spox.com

“He will only leave if there’s an extraordinary offer for him. I am not ruling anything out and we will listen to offers, but in reality we could allow him to leave for a huge offer.”

The interest in De Bruyne is understandable following an outstanding season in the Bundesliga last season. In fact, no player in Europe’s top five leagues registered more assists than De Bruyne last season (20).
