Doumbia had Premier League offers

Roma striker Seydou Doumbia has revealed he had offers to come to the Premier League before he eventually returned to CSKA Moscow on loan earlier this summer.

Doumbia, 27, also admitted he has no plans to return to Roma after enduring a torrid six-month period in the Italian capital.

“I wasn’t happy for this reason and I wanted to come back,” Doumbia is quoted in Africa Top Sports.

“Since the first day in Rome I didn’t feel good. Now I’m back to CSKA Moscow and I’m happy again. I’m still owned by Roma but I have no intention of going back.

“I had contacts with English clubs, but CSKA was the best solution.”

Prior to joining Roma in January 2015, Doumbia had netted 25 times in his last 35 appearances for CSKA in the Russian Premier League – a feat only Hulk can claim to have matched in that time.
