Aston Villa are close to signing Bournemouth captain Tommy Elphick in deal worth £3m, according to BBC Sport.
Elphick, 28, captained a Championship winning team when Bournemouth earned promotion to the Premier League in 2015 but injuries saw him make just 11 starts in the top-flight last season.
Villa are in desperate need of leaders when they tackle life in the Championship next season and are now discussing personal terms with the England defender as they look to complete a deal before the end of the week.
Only Andrew Surman (2.9) averaged more interceptions per game in the Premier League last season for Bournemouth than Elphick (2.7).
