City hoping to tie up move for centre-back

Aymeric Laporte's move to Premier League giants Manchester City will be completed in the coming days, reports Spanish publication Marca.

The Frenchman has been strongly linked with a move to the Citizens since it was announced Pep Guardiola would take over the reins at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola has been hoping to secure the services of a ball-playing centre-back, with John Stones also rumoured to be on the Spaniard's radar this summer.

Laporte, who is currently sidelined due to injury, has had a contract offer from City since March, but Athletic Club are hoping to demanding the English side match his €50m buyout clause before a deal can be concluded.

City have already made their first signing of the summer having secured the services of Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund.
