Barcelona have piped Manchester United to the signing of highly rated central defender Aymeric Laporte, according to the Daily Mirror.
Laporte, 21, has been heavily linked with a move away from Athletic Club in the last 12 months.
However, United have reportedly missed out on his signature with Barcelona in pole to wrap up the £35m deal.
The France U21 international has started the new season in fine fashion and was named in the WhoScored La Liga team of the week prior to the international break after garnering a rating of 8.5.
