Manchester City boss rekindles interest in Juventus ace Bonucci
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has rekindled his interest in Juventus centre-back Leonardo Bonucci, claims Goal.
Bonucci has been heavily linked with a move to City in recent years but has previously opted against leaving Italy because of his son's health problems.
The Italy international left Juventus to join rivals AC Milan in a shock deal in 2017 only to return to Turin 12 months later.
Guardiola has made strengthening the heart of City's defence one of his main priorities this summer following the club's woes at the back this season.
Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones face uncertain futures at the Etihad, while Aymeric Laporte has encountered several injury problems in 2019/20.
Guardiola wants to bring Bonucci's experience to City for the 2020/21 campaign but Juventus are not interested in selling their star defender.
Bonucci's current Juventus deal is not due to expire until the summer of 2024 and the Italy international is expected to see out the remaining years of his career at the club.
The veteran defender is renowned for his long passing ability and it is no surprise he ranks top of all outfielders for accurate long balls in Serie A since August 2017 (571).
