Villa bid for Ayew accepted

Aston Villa have already dipped into the money from the £32.5m sale of Christian Benteke after having a bid accepted for Lorient forward Jordan Ayew, according to Sky Sports.

The Premier League outfit are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements after the departure of their star striker and have seemingly earmarked the Ayew as his replacement.

The Villains have reportedly had a bid in excess of £7m accepted by the Ligue 1 club and will now be free to thrash out terms with the Ghanaian international, who is expected in Birmingham in the next 24 hours.

Ayew, who only moved to Lorient last summer, finished the Ligue 1 campaign with a direct hand in 17 goals (12 goals and five assists) – the most of any Lorient player. The 23-year-old was also booked at least two more times than any of his teammates in the league in the last year (8).

The Ghanaian’s brother Andre joined Swansea earlier on a free transfer in the summer and it would now appear his brother could be about to join him in the Premier League.
