Arsenal beat Tottenham to land Premier League striker

Arsenal are poised to sign Chelsea outcast Tammy Abraham on a season-long loan deal, claims The Sun.

Abraham is keen to leave Chelsea after Thomas Tuchel made it clear last season he was not part of his plans.

Tottenham and Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the England international but it has now emerged the Gunners have won the race.

Chelsea are even willing to let Abraham join Arsenal on loan but there will be an obligation for Mikel Arteta's side to sign the striker for £40m next summer.

Arsenal will have no choice but to pay the fee in full if Abraham makes a certain number of appearances for the club next season.

Abraham's impending move to Arsenal only raises further doubts over the future of Alexandre Lacazette, who has already been linked with a move away this summer.

The 30-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his current Arsenal deal and is unlikely to be offered new terms.

Arsenal have already been burned by big contracts to ageing players in the past like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil and will look to avoid a similar situation here.

Despite only starting 12 Premier League games last season, no Chelsea player scored more non-penalty goals than Abraham (6).
