Atletico snap up long-standing United target

Atletico Madrid have completed a deal to sign long-standing Manchester United target Nicolas Gaitan from Benfica, according to Marca.

Gaitan, 28, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford every season for the past five years but has now completed a €25m (£19m) move to Atletico, which is set to be announced after the Champions League final next week.

Atletico manager Diego Simeone has been tracking his fellow countryman for a while and is hopeful the forward can add another dimension to their attack as they look to strengthen their offensive options in the summer.
