Tottenham make enquiry for out-of-favour Atletico Madrid forward

Tottenham have made an enquiry for out-of-favour Atletico Madrid winger Nico Gaitan, reports The London Evening Standard.

Gaitan, 28, only joined the Spanish giants from Porto at the start of the season but has struggled to force his way into contention under Diego Simeone.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have tested the waters as a result but the Atletico boss is adamant the Argentina forward is going no where this month despite barely featuring for the club this season.

Tottenham are yet to make a signing in the January transfer window but Pochettino could look to strengthen in attack following Vincent Janssen’s woes up front coupled with the fact Erik Lamela has been sidelined with a hip injury since October.

Gaitan has only started four games in the league this season with a further six appearances made from the bench, scoring two goals in that time.
