Wenger admits he can’t afford to rest highest rated star

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits he cannot afford to rest Alexis Sanchez despite an injury scare.

Wenger has previously expressed his desire to take Sanchez out of the team amid growing fears the Chile international will suffer from burnout.

However, the former Barcelona forward star played the full 90 minutes against Dinamo Zagreb and the Arsenal manager admits this isn’t the right time to give his star player a rest with the Premier League title race so precariously placed.

“I will assess that later. It might not be the right time to rest him,” Wenger is quoted as saying by The Daily Mirror.

Sanchez played a direct hand in all three of Arsenal’s goals against Dinamo Zagreb in midweek and only two players have garnered a higher WhoScored rating in the Champions League than the Arsenal striker so far this season (8.39).
