Chelsea pull trigger on Lampard's time at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea have relieved Frank Lampard of his dutues at Stamford Bridge after a run of one win in five games left the Blues ninth in the table, reports The Telegraph.
Lampard had been under pressure for some time now after a huge summer spend and the hierarchy had expected the club to sit closer to the top of the table.
The Blues boss oversaw a 3-1 win over Luton to progress to the next round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon, but that victory wasn't enough to save Lampard from the boot.

Attention now turns to who replaces Lampard in the Stamford Bridge hotseat, with Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann the reported frontrunners to succeed the 42-year-old.
Lampard enjoyed a solid debut season as Chelsea head coach, guiding the club to a top four finish and that gave the Blues icon the ideal foundation to build upon.
However, with Chelsea languishing in mid-table and the club yet to see a solid return on their investment, the west London side are now on the look out for another manager for the 13th time under Roman Abramovich's reign.
Chelsea played horrible football all season long without any creativity or pace. If one could have seen a proper game plan or idea from Lampard, that just needed a bit more time to break through, he wouldn't have been sacked. But unfortunately there was nothing to detect, just boring attacks, mostly executed by kicking 100 crosses from half the pitch in front of the goal. One could hardly play worse with the amount of quality players in that squad ...
It was obvious he would be fired.
