A big money summer signing spearheads the Serie A team of the week
Many didn’t foresee Juventus’ start to the season. They are slowly but surely coming up to speed, but after nine games they still eight points behind league leaders Roma. Massimiliano Allegri’s men had already lost as many games as they did through the whole of last season after gameweek 7, but while they have struggled there has been one constant of positivity: when Paulo Dybala plays he scores.
Juventus snapped up the highly rated Argentina international over the summer from Serie A rivals Palermo, but have been easing the striker into first-team action much the same way they did with Alvaro Morata last season.
However, Dybala’s form in front of goal suggests they should bin that approach as they try to close down the gap between themselves and the leagues top clubs. The 21-year-old now has four goals from five starts in Serie A after he got in on the action in their 2-0 win over Atalanta.
Dybala’s WhoScored rating of 9.45 was by far and away the highest in the Italian top-flight this weekend as Juve secured just their second win at home from five games this season. The youngster tested the goalkeeper four times than the entire Atalanta team combined (4) and no player created more goalscoring opportunities than the striker (4).
