Pep Guardiola has left Yaya Toure out of the Manchester City squad that is due to travel to Romania for their Champions League qualifier first-leg against Steaua Bucharest, according to The Times.
Toure, 33, was also left out of the squad for City’s 2-1 win over Sunderland on the opening day of the Premier League season leaving his future at the club future up in the air.
The former Ivory Coast international has 12 months remaining on his existing deal with City and isn’t thought to feature in Guardiola’s plans, but the club are having trouble finding a suitor willing to match his salary.
No midfielder has played a direct hand in more league goals in the last five Premier League campaigns than Toure (63).
