Sofiane Boufal’s Southampton career has plunged to a new low after being frozen out by manager Mark Hughes, claims The Sun.
The Morocco international has not featured in any of Southampton’s last four matches and has not even made the squad for their last two outings.
Boufal reportedly enraged Hughes after refusing to warm-up during their 3-2 defeat to Chelsea earlier this month, sparking a huge dressing room bust-up.
The 24-year-old has since been banished from first-team training and is unlikely to play for the club again this season, if ever again.
Boufal has failed to make any impression since signing from Lille in 2016 for a then club-record £16m deal and will almost certainly leave if the club are relegated.
Southampton, who were knocked out of the FA Cup semi-finals at the weekend, occupy the last relegation spot and are four points adrift of safety with four games left to play.
Boufal has only scored and assisted four goals in 26 league appearances this season, albeit only starting on 11 occasions.
Of players that have started at least 10 Premier League matches this season, only Eden Hazard (1 every 14.8 minutes of action) completes a dribble more frequently than Boufal (1 every 19.9 minutes).
He has been really disappointing. There was a lot of hype when he signed for Southampton but he's been pants, other than that worldie goal he scored
