Manchester United ponder sensational move for Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United are weighing up whether to make a sensational move to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid this summer, claims The Sun.

Ronaldo is as close as he has ever been to leaving Madrid and Juventus are the frontrunners to prise the Portugal international away from the European champions.

The 33-year-old reportedly wants to leave Madrid this summer despite the fact he still has three years left to run on his lucrative contract.

Juventus are just waiting for the green light to submit an official €100m bid for Ronaldo but United are monitoring his future in Spain.

United chief executive Ed Woodward is obsessed with the idea of making Galactico-like signings and has previously missed out on prising Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, as well as failed attempts to sign Neymar and Gareth Bale.

The Red Devils are one of very few clubs that could afford to sign someone at Ronaldo’s age and have even thought about handing their former No.7 a three-year deal to return to England.

However, there is a feeling that Juventus have made significant progress in a deal to sign Ronaldo if he does leave Madrid and it would take an extraordinary twist for United to beat their Serie A counterparts to his signature.
