Borussia Dortmund have announced Gonzalo Castro has put pen to paper on a new three-and-a-half-year deal keeping him at the club until 2020.
Castro, 29, has spent the last two years at Dortmund after joining from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and his performances in the middle of the park have often gone without sufficient praise.
The Germany international has been a regular provider at both ends of the pitch for Dortmund and has revealed his delight at joining the likes of Julian Weigl and Christian Pulisic in extending their stay at the club this season.
“I am very happy with the confidence that the club brings me and can honestly say that it makes me proud to wear the black and yellow jersey and play football before these great fans,” Castro told the club’s official website.
Castro is the only player in the Bundesliga who has assisted a minimum of seven goals in each of the last four campaigns and is currently on course to continue that streak, requiring only three more assists.
