Wolves’ stunning €60m bid for Serie A midfielder rejected

Wolves have been unsuccessful in a stunning club-record €60m bid for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie, claims Calciomercato.

The newly-promoted Premier League side have made a series of eye-catching transfers this summer but aren’t interested in stopping there.

Wolves are on the verge of announcing Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker and were also hoping to prise Kessie away from Milan.

The Ivory Coast international only joined Milan from Atalanta 12 months ago following strong links to Manchester United and Chelsea.

Wolves broke their club record to sign Adama Traore from Middlesbrough in an £18m deal earlier this week and were prepared to pay three times amount to land Kessie.

Nuno’s side tabled an initial €40m (£36m) bid for the 21-year-old, plus another €20m (£18m) in performance related add-ons, but Milan declined.

The Serie A giants believe Kessie is one of the most important players at the club and will now look to tie down his long-term future with a bumper new deal.

Kessie has scored 11 goals in the last two Serie A campaigns, while also providing six assists in that time.
