Juventus could be set to miss out on Zenit St. Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel with the Belgian on the seriously weighing up a lucrative offer from China, reports Sky Sport Italia, via Football Italia.
Witsel, 27, completed a medical ahead of a move to Juventus last summer only for the deal to collapse when Zenit failed to find a replacement before the window closed.
The Serie A champions were expected to move for Witsel in the January transfer window but could be set to miss out altogether with the Belgium international weighing up a huge offer from Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai SIPG.
Andre Villas-Boas’ side have already secured the services of Oscar this month and the Portuguese coach is now looking to reunite with Witsel, with whom he coached during his recent stint as Zenit manager.
Shanghai SIPG have reportedly tabled an offer that would see the Zenit midfielder earn £61m over four years, which would see the Belgian earn in the region of £288,000-a-week, far more than he would earn anywhere else in Europe.
In the last four Russian Premier League campaigns only Sergei Ignashevich (4883) has completed more passes than Witsel (4810).
