Manchester City close in on Crystal Palace star

Manchester City are closing in on a £50m move for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha, reports the Sunday Mirror.

The Ivory Coast international has attracted ample interest from a host of Premier League teams with the transfer window close to opening.

Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal have all been linked with a move for Zaha in recent months, yet they could all miss out to City for the winger.

The 25-year-old has been a star man for Palace this season, scoring eight goals and providing a further three assists to return a WhoScored.com rating of 7.36.

Palace have lost all of the 10 league matches Zaha hasn’t started this season to reinforce his importance to the Eagles, who’ll be keen to retain the Ivorian’s services this summer.

However, they are aware that competition for his signature will be rife once the transfer window opens and a £50m bid could be enough to convince the club to sell their star attacker.

City head coach Pep Guardiola is looking to add another wideman to his squad this summer and had hoped to lure Riyad Mahrez to the Etihad Stadium in January, only for the move to fail to materialise.

Ivory Coast's failure to qualify for the World Cup also means Zaha's price is unlikely to rise had he impressed in Russia.
