French defender ruled out of the Euros

Sevilla have confirmed left-back Benoit Tremoulinas has torn a muscle in his left knee and will be out for up to a month, ruling him out of consideration for Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the Euros in June.

Tremoulinas, 30, has been on the fringes of the France squad in the last two years and has often played understudy to Patrice Evra or Gael Clichy.

The Sevilla defender returned to first-team action for the first time in over a month in their 3-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Europa League on Thursday but has broken down to injury once again.

Only three Sevilla players have registered more assists in La Liga than Tremoulinas this season (3), who has only made 24 appearances due to injury.
