Real Sociedad have announced Inigo Martinez has extended his contract by four years keeping him at the club until 2021.
Martinez, 24, had just over 12 months remaining on his current deal with the Basque club and had been linked with a move to Liverpool last summer.
The Spainish defender has also seen his release clause increase from €30m (£23.3m) to €40m (£31m) in his new contract.
Only Asier Illarramendi (101) has completed more interceptions than Martinez (93) for Sociedad in La Liga this season and only Carlos Vela (2,719) has featured in more minutes of league actions of outfielders at the club (Martinez – 2,700).

i dont understand why, he deserves to play for a better team, ,he s been one of my favorite center backs since 2 years ago,great at tackling (unlike you guys have written here) and reading the game, maybe it was just a contract so other clubs have to pay more for him , i was hoping one day he will join Barca
