Sergio Aguero returns to Manchester City training

Manchester City have announced Sergio Aguero has returned to training earlier than anticipated after breaking his ribs before the international break.

Aguero was involved in a car accident in Amsterdam before City’s 1-0 win over Chelsea at the start of the month and there were fears he would face an extended spell on the sidelines as a result.

It was only last week that the Argentine national team doctor claimed Aguero could not even leave his house due to the pain and would be sidelined for up to six weeks.

However, Aguero has given Pep Guardiola’s side a huge boost after returning to training and carrying out a light session with a member of the City medical department.

City host Stoke on Saturday and while Aguero is not expected to recover in time to feature against the Potters, the fact he has returned to some sort of training would suggest he will not be sidelined for six weeks.

Aguero is only one goal away from equalling Eric Brook’s record as City’s all-time leading goalscorer, while he is already the highest scoring non-European player in Premier League history (128 goals).
