Tottenham target wants Premier League football

Tottenham target Ben Gibson hasn’t decided on his Middlesbrough future but has revealed he wants to continue playing in the Premier League.

Gibson’s performances at the heart of the Middlesbrough defence have been one of few bright points for the club this season after they were relegated back to the Championship earlier this month.

The 24-year-old has impressed so much that he has spent the season on the periphery of the England squad and Middlesbrough are bracing themselves for summer offers from the likes of Tottenham.

However, Gibson, who is related to owner Steve, is yet to decide on whether he will stay at his boyhood club or push for a move to a Premier League side this summer.

“I’m obviously contracted to the football club,” Gibson told Sky Sports. “It’s been a hard year for everyone. What I would say is that since I came here at 10 years old, I’ve given my lot for the football club.

“I think every player in the world wants to play in the Premier League, everyone wants to play at the top level. I’m no different to that.

“What I would say is that no decision has been made regarding my future as of yet.”

Gibson has featured in every Premier League game for Middlesbrough this season and it hasn’t been conceding goals that has been the problem for the club this season. In fact, Boro would be mid-table based on the amount of goals they’ve conceded this season (50) and Gibson has been integral to their success at frustrating opponents.

Furthermore, the Middlesbrough ace is one of three outfielders that have played in every single minute of Premier League action this season along with Chelsea ace Cesar Azpilicueta and Bournemouth defender Steve Cook.
