Stoke weigh up bid for Spurs target

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes is considering a January bid for West Brom outcast Saido Berahino, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Berahino, 22, has completely fallen out of favour under Baggies boss Tony Pulis this season and is widely expected to leave this month.

Tottenham had several bids for the England Under-21 international turned down over the summer and while they are still interested in acquiring another striker in this window, it remains to be seen whether the way Berahino has been portrayed this season has put them off the frontman.

Hughes is looking to sign an out-and-out striker to help improve their form in front of goal and acquiring a player of Berahino’s talent would also be another show of intent from Stoke, as they look to climb the table.

Berahino has only started eight league games this season, the last of those coming at the end of October. Despite having to settle with a place of the bench for the majority of the season, no West Brom player has scored more league goals than him thus far (3).
