Contract talks between Arsenal and Oxlade-Chamberlain go flat

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future is up in the air after growing frustrated by the fact Arsenal still haven’t offered him a new contract, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The 23-year-old will only have 12 months remaining on his existing Arsenal deal later this summer and manager Arsene Wenger has previously spoken about the importance of securing his future.

Arsenal were expected to offer Oxlade-Chamberlain a new £100,000-a-week deal in the aftermath of last season but no contract offer has been forthcoming and the England international is growing increasingly frustrated by the situation.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is thought to be a long-term admirer of the versatile midfielder and will surely be keeping one eye on his future as it develops this summer.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has failed to nail down a regular starting spot ever since joining Arsenal from Southampton in August 2011 and even finished last season playing at right wing-back.

Last season he provided as many assists in the Premier League (7) as he managed in his first five seasons at the club combined. However, he has only started 28.5% of Arsenal’s Premier League matches during his time at the club.
