Chelsea have made their interest in Inter captain Mauro Icardi clear after opening with an offer of €63m (£54.9m), claims TNT Sports, via AS.
Icardi has been heavily linked with a move away from Inter all season and has even been tipped with a high profile transfer to Real Madrid.
The Argentina international is still mulling his long-term future at Inter after recently conceding he envisages himself still being at the club in the next five years.
With Madrid now thought to be pursuing Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, Chelsea have now firmed up their own interest in Icardi.
Antonio Conte’s side are aware that their opening offer will not be enough to prise Icardi away from Serie A, but are hoping that their early interest will give them the edge in the race to land the 25-year-old.
Icardi became the sixth youngest player to reach 100 Serie A goals at the weekend after netting four in a 5-0 win over former club Sampdoria.
Since making his Serie A debut in the 2012/13 campaign, no player has scored more hat-tricks than Icardi (6).
Furthermore, only Lazio striker Ciro Immobile (24) has scored more Serie A goals than Icardi (22) this season.
