Paris Saint-Germain midfielder could stay at the club this summer

Manchester United target Blaise Matuidi has revealed he could still end up remaining at Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Matuidi will only have 12 months remaining on his existing deal in the summer and reports emerged last week claiming he is frustrated at how he has been treated by the club this season and would be seeking a move away in the next transfer window.

The 30-year-old rejected the offer of a contract extension earlier in the season and is reportedly on United’s radar, but the France international has cooled talk of a move away after hinting his future could still remain with PSG.

“I am focused on the remainder of the season with PSG,” he told Canal Plus. “I am very happy in Paris.

“I have an excellent understanding with the club’s leaders, despite what some people might think. I have a very good relationship with the president.

“Staying with PSG is a possibility. Is it set in stone? No. I am focused on the end of the season. I feel really good in Paris, and I have no problems here whatsoever.”

Matuidi has enjoyed a welcome return to form in the last two matches after scoring two goals in a 3-2 win over Metz before proving an assist in their 2-0 win against Montpellier this past weekend.

It means he has already matched his tally for goals in each of the last two campaigns (4 goals) with four games remaining to score two more goals to set a personal best haul in single league campaign for the reigning Ligue 1 champions.
