Premier League side showing interest in Dortmund man

Manchester City are set to step up their interest in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, according to Sky Sports, via Sky in Italy.

The Germany international's contract expires in 2017 and has reportedly told the club he is not prepared to extend his stay at the Westfalonstadion.

Barcelona were supposedly in negotiations to secure his services, but talks appear to have broken down allowing for City to steal a march on their rivals for his signature.

Juventus are also keen on Gundogan, but are set to be left disappointed in their pursuit of the 25-year-old, who expects to play under Guardiola at City next season.

Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel, however, insists the club are fighting to retain the services of their star midfielder.

"I believe it's not the case that there isn't a chance he'll stay. The importance of Ilkay in this form is undisputed, but one can imagine that the interest from other clubs is high," Tuchel said.
