Liverpool midfielder wanted by Serie A side

Sassuolo have earmarked Liverpool outcast Marko Grujic as their primary transfer target to replace outgoing midfielder Manuel Locatelli, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Serie A outfit are currently in talks with an unnamed foreign side for Locatelli, while Juventus have also confirmed they want the Euro 2020 champion.

Sassuolo are planning for life without their star midfielder and plan to prise Grujic away from Liverpool as a result.

The Serbia international has no immediate future at Anfield and Liverpool would entertain his departure either on loan or a permanent deal.

After a productive loan spell at Hertha Berlin for two seasons, Grujic spent the 2020/21 campaign with FC Porto but struggled to cement himself as a first-team regular.

The 25-year-old made 24 league appearances for Porto but only started nine times and was sent off on his first Champions League start for the club.

Grujic is certainly an imposing midfielder and despite a disappointing loan spell in Portugal he did win 79.5% of his aerial duels in the league - the best return in the division.
