West Ham line up audacious bid for former City striker

West Ham are preparing a £20m move for Roma striker Edin Dzeko, according to the Brentwood Gazette.

The Hammers are in the hunt for a top-four finish but are already planning for next season and have already been linked with a number of strikers including Christian Benteke and Wilfried Bony.

However, they have now set their sights on former Manchester City striker Dzeko, who is currently enduring a frustrating maiden campaign with Roma.

The Bosnia international has struggled to live up to the billing since arriving from City last summer and Slaven Bilic has set his on Dzeko to become his marquee signing ahead of their move to the Olympic Park next season.

Dzeko has played a direct hand in 12 league goals for Roma this season (seven goals + five assists), but boasts the fourth worst conversion rate of strikers to have scored at least five goals in Serie A this season (10.8%).
