Paris Saint-Germain manager demands Rabiot decision on future
Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel has demanded Adrien Rabiot make a decision on his future.
Rabiot has entered the final 12 months of his current PSG contract and has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona since the end of last season.
Barcelona are keen to strengthen their midfield ranks further and are interested in completing a cut-price move for the France international.
New PSG head coach Tuchel wants Rabiot to renew with the club but admits time is running out and a decision needs to be made by the 23-year-old.
“I am certain that Adrien can still bring a lot to this club - his club,” ESPN quote Tuchel as saying. “It is important to have a youth academy graduate at this level. However, he needs to come out and say that and that is still a big but.”
Rabiot, who was left out of France’s 2018 World Cup squad, made his PSG debut in 2012 but has struggled for regular playing time since then.
The French midfielder finally established himself as first choice under Unai Emery last season but could now depart his boyhood club for a high profile move to Barcelona.
Of players aged 23 and under in Europe’s top five leagues last season, only Rodri (2473) and Milan Skriniar (2380) attempted more passes than Rabiot (2194).
