Lampard admits LA Galaxy offers

Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has revealed he could have joined LA Galaxy before ex-Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard made the switch from the Premier League this summer.

Lampard, 37, instead declined the offers that came during his formative years at Chelsea, before accepting New York City FC’s offer to join them at the end of last season.

“I had a couple of opportunities a couple of years ago,” Lampard is quoted as saying by BBC Football Focus.  “They didn’t happen in the end.

“It wasn’t the right time for me then and New York was coming round and it’s certainly the right time for me now.”

Saturday evening’s fixture between LA Galaxy and NYCFC will see the Lampard and Gerrard line up against each other for the first time since they made the switch from the Premier League to Major League Soccer this summer.

Injuries have hampered Lampard to just 107 minutes of action for his new side. Only Tony Taylor (5.93) has gained a lower WhoScored rating than Lampard (6.10) for NYCFC this season.
