Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino has promised new signings and now the Premier League outfit are plotting a £35m bid for Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez, reports The Sun.
Pochettino is the only Premier League manager yet to make a single signing this summer but is keen to use the £50m windfall from Kyle Walker’s departure to bolster his options ahead of the new season.
Tottenham have entered talks with Ajax for Sanchez, who has previously admitted he wants to play for Barcelona in the future.
The 21-year-old only joined Ajax last summer but finished the campaign as their Player of the Season, although he was found wanting in the Europa League final against Manchester United back in May.
Only Justin Hoogma (1205) and Eric Botteghin (1185) completed more accurate passes in their own half of the pitch than Sanchez (1154) in Eredivisie last season.
Trickle-down economics in action. Too bad they don't work in real life...
