West Ham bid £27m for Tottenham target

West Ham have bid £27m for Nice forward Alassane Plea in a bid to beat Tottenham to his signature, claims Sky Sports.

New West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini is desperate to bolster the club’s offensive options this summer.

The Hammers are still locked in talks with Lazio for Felipe Anderson but have also been offered Antonio Candreva by Inter.

Manuel Lanzini has been ruled out for the remainder of the year after suffering a serious knee injury on the eve of the 2018 World Cup, emphasising the need to help club record signing Marko Arnautovic in attack.

Plea finished last season strongly with French side Nice and he has already been heavily linked with a surprise move to Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino is considering the 25-year-old as an alternative to Manchester United wantaway Anthony Martial.

However, West Ham have submitted a staggering £27m bid in order to fend off competition from their fiercest rivals.

Plea enjoyed his best ever season in terms of goals scored last term, netting 16 times and providing a further five assists for the Ligue 1 side.

Not only that, but only Florian Thauvin (131) attempted more shots than Plea (108) in Ligue 1 in the 2017/18 campaign.
