Newcastle want Chelsea winger on permanent deal

Newcastle want to make Kenedy’s long stint at the club permanent at the end of the season, claims the London Evening Standard.

The Brazilian has been a revelation for Newcastle since joining on loan from Chelsea in January.

Antonio Conte’s side rejected Newcastle’s attempts to include an option to buy in Kenedy’s loan deal in January but the Magpies will attempt to sign him permanently in the summer if they stay up.

Kenedy endured a difficult time under Conte and is unlikely to have a long-term future at the club if the Italian remains Chelsea manager for next season.

The 22-year-old scored his first Newcastle goals in Saturday’s 3-0 home win over Southampton to help move Rafa Benitez’s side five points clear of the bottom three.

Newcastle were the only side in the bottom half of the table to win at the weekend and Kenedy has played an influential part for the club since his arrival.

In fact, Kenedy is Newcastle’s highest WhoScored rated player in the Premier League this season (7.19) after playing a direct hand in three goals in his first six appearances (two goals, one assist).
