Arsenal are in early talks with Everton over a move to sign Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana this month, reports Football.London.
The Gunners are looking to strengthen in midfield in a bid to enhance their title credentials, and look set to revisit a move for Onana, who they were also linked with the last summer.
Everton are holding out for a fee in the region of £50m for, arguably, their most saleable asset, but the Toffees’ precarious financial situation could see that price tag come down before the transfer deadline.
The 22-year-old has started 15 of Everton’s 20 league games so far this season, having temporarily struggled with a calf issue.
Arsenal, who were knocked out of the FA Cup by Liverpool on Sunday evening, may, however, have to move quickly to secure a deal for the Belgian, with it mooted that Premier League rivals Manchester United are also eyeing a move.
Onana has been a regular feature for the Toffees since his arrival from Lille in 2022 and to lose the Belgium international in January would be a significant blow to Sean Dyche's side.
