West Ham and Crystal Palace chase Bayern Munich striker

West Ham and Crystal Palace are in a straight shoot-out to sign out-of-favour Bayern Munich striker Sandro Wagner, claims The Sun.

Bayern re-signed Wagner from Hoffenheim at the start of the year to help ease the burden on star striker Robert Lewandowski.

Wagner started eight league games in the second half of last season and made a further six appearances off the bench, scoring eight times.

However, the former Germany international has barely got a look-in under Niko Kovac this season and now looks destined to leave Bayern for the second time in his career.

West Ham and Palace want to bolster their offensive options in the January transfer window and are both keen on the 30-year-old.

Palace manager Roy Hodgson has been forced to play Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend, two natural wide players, up front this season.

Only Huddersfield (six) have scored fewer Premier League goals than Palace (8) this season but Hodgson’s side will face competition for Wagner’s signature from London rivals West Ham.
