Chelsea are trying to hi-jack Liverpool’s deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze, according to The Sun.
Gotze, 23, has been told by incoming Bayern manager Carlo Ancelotti that he is free to leave in the summer after dropping down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola this season.
The former Borussia Dortmund midfielder has been linked with a return to BVB but Jurgen Klopp is keen to reunite with the Germany international at Liverpool.
However, both are now facing competition from Chelsea, who have entered the race Bayern creator. Ancelotti has reportedly given incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte his blessing for the move, which would seemingly spell bad news for the likes of Liverpool and Dortmund.
Gotze has really struggled with injuries and favouritism this season. He has only made 10 league starts and has just one goal to his name, but nevertheless the reported €20m asking price would be a bargain for any club.
