Everton manager Ronald Koeman is keen to wrap up a January move for Porto defender Ivan Marcano, reports The Daily Mail.
The Toffees made an enquiry to sign the 30-year-old during the summer but Porto were only interested in selling the defender for an inflated price.
However, Marcano has entered the final 12 months of his existing deal and will be free to discuss pre-contractual terms with foreign clubs in January.
Koeman is keen to add cover to his defensive options, although it remains to be seen whether Everton will try and get a cut-price deal done in January or secure his services for nothing next summer.
The Spanish defender has made a sublime start to the season for Porto and currently features in the WhoScored Team of the Season in the Portuguese Liga NOS (7.83).
