Italy star ruled out for the Euros

Juventus have confirmed Claudio Marchisio will miss the remainder of the season as well as the Euros in the summer after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament.

Marchisio, 30, was stretchered off after just 16 minutes of Juventus’ 4-0 win over Palermo on Sunday and test results have already confirmed a rupture to ligaments in his left knee.

Juventus haven’t confirmed how long the central midfielder will be sidelined for but this type of injury usual carries a six-month lay-off meaning he will miss Italy’s Euro 2016 campaign and Juventus’ title run-in.

No Juventus player has completed more tackles and interceptions combined in Serie A since August 2013 than Marchisio (378).
